Age of Aquarius: What Is It and What Does It Mean?

I'm sure most of you may have heard by now, (or may not), that we are currently in the Age of Aquarius. 

Even though this is not a topic I covered in my published beginner's guide to astrology - WHAT'S IN A SIGN? - this has definitely been a topic that has always intrigued me, and also something that most eager zodiac followers don't know too much about! 

So while it is currently Aquarius season as I write this post, I thought now would be an appropriate time as any to dive into a few details surrounding the Age of Aquarius and what that means for the world.

What Does an "Age" Mean in Astrology? 

First off, let's not confuse the terms age and season. The Age of Aquarius and Aquarius season are two different things! 

Season is a yearly event that follows the sun's movement, while age is based off of the equinoxes. 

About every 2100 or so years, the equinoxes will move through just one zodiac constellation. So back at the start of our century, around the year 2000, the vernal equinox moved into the constellation of Aquarius, which is how we got to where we are today. 

So, basically, the Age of Aquarius will last from 2000 A.D. - 4000 A.D.

What Does Age of Aquarius Mean Then? 

Each "age" will present trademarks that are tied to that particular zodiac sign. 

So what do we know about the sign of Aquarius? Well, Aquarians are the visionaries and the humanitarians of the zodiac. 

They stand for innovation, ideals, and progress, which means this current age will bring to the forefront the many, many issues that our world is currently facing. (Global warming, over-population, racial discrimination, animal species extinction, and volatile countries wielding destructive atomic power, just to name a few).

Aquarius is the seeker of truth, as well as the pursuer of a better world and future. They are also do-ers, not the ones to sit on their hands, which means THIS is the age where mankind will be put to the ultimate test to see if we can put our skills and technology to good use by progressively moving forward in order to reverse the damage we have inflicted on ourselves and our entire planet. 

There is some good news, however...

Aquarius is also the sign of hope. 

Meaning this is also the age where hope, desire, and belief will triumph if we all learn to accept and take action against the error of our ways. 

Another Fun Fact About the Age of Aquarius

Last thing I will say, which I definitely think the zodiac lovers will rejoice in, the Age of Aquarius will also bring to the forefront astrology itself! 

Aquarius is the sign that represents astrology. 

The 12 figures of the zodiac will no longer be symbols that are ridiculed or overlooked. All superstition will be thrown out the window! 

The new influencers of this age will be astrologers and mystics, so we will all eventually be saying goodbye to the likes of the Kardashians and TikTok dancers.

Remember, regardless of how dismal the state of things are around the world right now, there is always the power of hope, and what we all do with that hope could very well be the making of us all.
